The Scottish Racing Academy is delighted to announce the appointment of Fiona Rawson as its new Chief Executive Officer, executive from 14th October 2024. Currently serving as a Trustee of the Scottish Racing Academy (SRA), Fiona will transition into her new role from the Pony Racing Authority, where she has been the Chief Executive Officer.
Fiona Rawson brings over 20 years of experience within the Scottish sports landscape, where she has developed a reputation for her leadership in Safeguarding, Coaching and Workforce Development, Inclusion, Diversity & Representation, and Performance. Her time at horsescotland, prior to her role at the PRA has been instrumental in creating inclusive and accessible pathways for equestrian activities. Fiona’s passion for fostering a safe and inclusive environment will be a tremendous asset as she leads the Scottish Racing Academy into its next chapter.
SRA Chair, Delly Innes commented “The Scottish Racing Academy would also like to extend its thanks to outgoing founding CEO Eleanor Boden for her outstanding leadership over the past five years. The SRA would not be where it is today without, Eleanor’s dedication, leadership and drive. Eleanor has been instrumental in shaping the Academy’s direction and success, and her commitment has left an indelible mark on the organization. We wish her all the best in her new role as Education Programme Lead for the Horseracing Industry People Board and are delighted that Fiona will be taking up the position. Fiona’s knowledge of the SRA, coupled with her governance and business experience, make her the ideal person to carry on with the task of leading the Scottish Racing Academy.”
Commenting on her new role, Fiona said, “I am delighted to be taking on the CEO role of the SRA, its an exciting time working with the incredible team to continue the collaborations which have already been established as well as creating new opportunities and partnerships aligned to our shared values.”
Commenting on the Scottish Racing Academy, Eleanor said “The team at the Scottish Racing Academy have been exceptional and I have no doubt, they will continue to thrive under Fiona’s leadership and the continued guidance of such skilled and informed Trustees. Thank you to the Racing Foundation for funding the initial development of the Scottish Racing Academy and providing the financial stability during the start-up phase.”
